Problem with Linux, Java and WI v3Bernd, I would say it is number 2. It would
concern me, but it depends on the value vs. resources.

Subject: [THIN] Java Based Tools On Citrix Servers - OK, or Not?

  Folks,

I am working with a small company that is going to be doing some good work in
the performance management area for Citrix servers. Their existing agent which
runs as a service on each Citrix server is written in Java. This of course
requires the presence of a JRE to support their service.

I know that everyone hates having to publish Java based applications on their
Citrix boxes due to the fact that Java application consume so much memory. My
question is, "Do you care about a service written in Java (where there is only
ever one instance), or does your fear and loathing of Java applications extend
to potential Java management tools as well?

Please let me know with a simple response like:

1.. If it delivers value, I do not care what it is written in.
2.. The fact that it is in Java is a concern, and it will depend upon the
value vs. the resources consumed.
3.. Over my dead body will a Java thing go on my Citrix boxes.

If you want to elaborate on your rationale that would be most appreciated as
well.

  Thanks,
