I'm not 100% sure....
I guess that the AD GPO update came as part of either.. sp3 or maybe as part
of the IE service packs.. They both got put on at about the same time
(brave or just foolish ??)

Have a look on the thin.net for policies for IE.. they are there.. but I
personally didn't have to use these.

You don't say what you have as a operating system (NT or W2K).=3D20
But under W2K, SP3 you have an option under group policy objects - User
configuration,admin templates,internet explorer, "disable changing default
browser check" - which does the following....=3D20

<snip>
Prevents Internet Explorer from checking to see whether it is the default
browser.

If you enable this policy, the Internet Explorer Should Check to See Whether
It Is the Default Browser check box on the Programs tab in the Internet
Options dialog box appears dimmed.

If you disable this policy or do not configure it, users can determine
whether Internet Explorer will check to see if it is the default browser.
When Internet Explorer performs this check, it prompts the user to specify
which browser to use as the default.

This policy is intended for organizations that do not want users to
determine which browser should be their default.
</snip>

How can you make IE your default browser so when user logs on they do not
get the message that IE is not their deafault browser, would you like to
make it your default?
Thanks in advance?
