This would be a good solution but we have the resident's terminals = outside of the corporate network directly interfaced with the Internet. = No servers involved. -----Original Message----- From: Murphy, Brian [mailto:bmurphy@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Wednesday, November 27, 2002 5:47 PM To: 'thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx' Subject: [THIN] Re: Internet Terminal Publish a Desktop or IE. Use Group Policy to disable downloads and = active x. Convert all of your PC's to dumbterminals (Win9x and Citrix Client). = Lock down the dumbterminal using Poledit and registry hacks (remove icons, drives, etc....). Create one shortcut on Startmenu called "Connect to Server" For the Winterms you can just connect to IE Published App. Then again, I guess I'm assuming your running TS or Citrix somewhere at corporate. -----Original Message----- From: Carl Arnoult [mailto:CArnoult@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx]=20 Sent: Wednesday, November 27, 2002 6:27 PM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Internet Terminal I apologize if this question is a bit off topic. We operate a number of = =3D non-profit long term care communities for older adults and would like to = =3D be able to offer Internet access for our residents. We currently give = =3D them access via our T-1 from the public side of the corporate firewall = =3D but have had problems with using PCs or standard thin clients to do =3D = this. PCs quickly become a nightmare with porno downloads, etc. =3D (residents of off-hour staff, we're not sure) and thin clients =3D (WinTerms) used just for Internet access leave a lot to be desired. I = =3D would appreciate any suggestions on an Internet terminal or other method = =3D for accomplishing access for our residents that is reasonably functional = =3D with a low support overhead.
