Hi Mikael,

It's no big problem to make file associations work on per-user basis, at =
least with win2k or win2k3.=20

There are some registry keys on a system with full acrobat installed:

HKLM\Software\Classes\
        .pdf
        MIME\database\Content Type\Application/pdf
        AcroExch.Document

that need to be copied to HKCU\Software\Classes for the users that need =
to use the full acrobat. Easiest thing is to export each key, change =
HKLM to HKCU (full not abbreviation). Amalgamate the 3 regfiles into one =
and if it's win2k just import the regfile into your full acrobat users =
profiles. Or you can convert the regfile into an appropriate kix or =
vbscript to do the same thing.

AcroExch.Document refers to the executable used to open a pdf document =
opened inside explorer, and the MIME entry refers to the acrobat =
component (activeX reader etc) used by IE to view pdf documents.

Now install the reader and check theat the AcroExch.Document and MIME =
values both refer to the appropriate reader components.

Everyone but your full acrobat users will get the reader as opposed to =
the full product.

Subject: [THIN] Installation of Adobe Acrobat 6.0 on Windows 2000 TS SP3

I have tried for 2=BD hours to install Adobe Acrobat 6.0.=20
The problem is that only 3 people should be able to make pdf's.=20

The others should only be able to read pdf files

How do I assign the correct ACL and should something in the installation =
be left out (like in Adobe Acrobat 5.0)

Please help!
