Check page 75 of the Citrix MFXP Advanced concepts guide, If you don't
have this already you can get it at:

ftp://ftp.citrix.com/metaxp/

Once you've applied the image to your server, you'll want to use
ghostwalker (if you imaged with symantec's ghost) to change the
machines' name and SID. Preparing your image with Sysprep, can change
your machine's name and SID too, but can require some more work once you
bring the newly imaged system online, unless you've setup your answer
file properly.

Obviously you'll want to test this process out on non-essential systems
if possible before moving to your production environment.

Is it possible to ghost a machine with MetaFrame loaded? What do you
have to do afterward to get it working?

When applying a ghost image of a system with re-mapped drives to
a new system you need to load ghost on the machine that's going to
receive the image with the FDSP switch. (file disk signature preserve)

        "ghost.exe -fdsp"

Works fine from ghost version 7.0 and higher.

I thought that it was not possible to ghost a server which had
had its drives remapped?

Absolutely. This is the DR method of choice for me
since it's quick and easy.

                chaps,

are you able to ghost a complete server, i.e. with
Citrix installed and drives remapped.. and apps installed??

The only problem I've ever had with Ghost is
using it on a partition basis. I've better 100% success generating
images by drive rather than by partition.

                        You're mileage may vary...

I don't bother backing up any of our MF servers
as yet, don't see the point.

I want to create an image for them though so I
can rebuild them quicker.

What products are people using for this ???
