Greetings

We've installed IE6 recently onto a new W2K TS deployment with no problems,
but our most recent deployment, into an existing IE5.5 SP2+fixes
installation, failed.

The problem we experienced was a corruption of Window Explorer, whereby if
you click the 'Folders' button, the left-hand folders pane is completely
greyed out. If you then click, for example, the 'Search' button, subsequent
clicks on 'Folders' acts as if the 'Search' button was actually clicked. No
amount of re-installs or repairs of IE6 would fix the problem, neither did
W2K SP3 when installed both either before or after an installation of IE6.

I've searched the 'net extensively over the last few days and found many
people with the same problem, some dating all the way back to September
2001. The only mention of this problem in the M$ Knowledgebase is for W9x
(Q192315), but, as far as I can see, nobody has yet posted a W2K solution
anywhere. That is, unless somebody on this list knows differently .....

Regards,

Paul
