I have 4 HP380s in production with W2K, MF FR3. We left it on and the boxes
are running fine. Our hardware guys did some testing, they saw no problems
with it.

To turn it off on my new DL380,=20

        Reboot Server
        Hit F10 for System Maintenance
        Got to Setup Utility
        Advanced
        hit Enter Processor Hyper-Threading
        Choose Disable
Hit Esc, Esc F10 to save

I have just purchased a new HP Proliant ML370 2x1.4Ghz Xeon running =3D
W2KSP2 for my second Citrix server, and this is showing four processors =
=3D in task manager.

My other Citrix server (a Compaq Proliant ML570 2x1.0Ghz Xeon also =3D
running W2KSP2) is (only) showing two processors in task manager.

The server is not live yet...my question is, is having this =3D
hyper-threading on for a Citrix server a good thing or a bad thing? If =
=3D it is recommended to switch it off how do I do that?

(Server will have about 15-20 users on it at any one time running word, =
=3D excel, outlook and a few custom apps..and...all users will be running an
= =3D access front-end/sql back-end application) on it).

Thanks,

Steve

I have Windows 2000 server running and hyper threading seems to be just =
=3D =3D3D fine.

Whether or not I am getting any kind of performance boost from it is a = =3D
=3D3D whole other debate but I have two physical processors in the machine
and = =3D =3D3D when I look at task manager, I see four.

Our DBA is under the impression that Windows 2000 Server does NOT
support
hyper-threading, but Advanced Server does. Is there any validity to
this? The
only thing I see on Microsofts site deals with Windows XP. Any
ideas?
