Interestingly enough, as a healthcare employee in the U.S. I am subject to higher insurance premiums than the general public. The reasoning is that we, as healthcare people, generally expect and ask for better care, more tests, etc; The numbers actually bear this out. We were asked by our management to refrain from "frivolous" procedure requests to help bring our insurance premiums down.
