Most likely the software is trying to create a registry key somewhere, and gets an access denied. When you lauch as an admin your account is able to create the required key, thus fixing the problem. You would be able to see this rather quickly and easily with Regmon. Set the highlight to DENIED and then try launching as the user. Trevor. -----Original Message----- From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Robert K Coffman Jr - Info From Data The first is IBM Content Manager OnDemand. It uses Adobe Acrobat Approval via a plug in as a helper application. When I installed it, the user was unable to launch a PDF file from OnDemand (error read "Adobe Acrobat (AcroExch.App rc=-2147024891) could not be loaded. From what I could find on the web, that error number indicates a permissions error of some type, ie. "Access is denied." If an admin opens a PDF this way, it works - and _then_ it works for everyone, and continues to work after a reboot. We also have a home grown document management system that uses Autovue as a viewer. In this case, I have to launch Autovue before a user does, otherwise the users can't launch documents. Once I do, the users are forever able to launch Autovue from our document management software! Environment is NT4 TSE. I checked file/registry permissions, and dcomcnfg looking for security related problems, but found nothing. ******************************************************** This Weeks Sponsor triCerat: Have you had your fill of printing support calls, unauthorized apps running on unsecured Terminal Servers, profile headaches, and application performance problems?
