Hi Dan, I suspect that Provision were aiming for the market not covered by Citrix. However if you look at how it's put together, there's no real reason it couldn't work with Activesync. Having said that, it'd be more than nice to know the software officially supports Activesync 4 before you buy it. Unfortunately, according to their web site, support for Activesync and USB twain isn't slated until the next release of the software in early 2006, by which time Citrix may actually have got their act together with Activesync 4. regards, Rick Ulrich Mack Volante Systems ________________________________ From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx on behalf of Daniel Sidler Sent: Tue 29/11/2005 1:00 AM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: Heads up for USB sync and Microsoft Mobile 5. It says "Currently, USB-IT® supports all BlackBerry models as well as any handheld running Palm OS." on their website. Does anyone know if this will work with Windows Mobile 5 and ActiveSync 4.1? Hi Svein, Have a look at USB-IT (www.provisionnetworks.com). The big advantage of using a virtual USB hub is that potentially you can use any USB device. Instead Citrix decide to hook into an Activesync driver, without any support for Palm/Blackberry, or even checking to see if it was compatibile with the latest and greatest. How to create opportunities for your competitors.... regards, Rick Ulrich Mack Volante Systems Level 2, 30 Little Cribb Street Coronation Drive Office Park Milton Qld 4064 tel: +61 7 32431847 fax: +61 7 32431992 rick.mack@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx ________________________________ From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx on behalf of Svein Arild Haugum Sent: Fri 25/11/2005 11:05 PM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Heads up for USB sync and Microsoft Mobile 5. I have now this case confirmed from Citrix, PS4 will NOT support USB sync with Microsoft Mobile 5 devices, at least not untill PS5 (Ohio) is released next year. So all you guys who uses this feature, make sure your users dont buy new phones/PDAs with the newest software. The support document CTX821115 will be updated with this info soon. I have installed the Active Sync 3.8 on the server, and enabled PDA sync in the policy. (Win 2k SP4, PS4a - Published Desktop, running on VMware GSX) The phone I have uses Microsoft Mobile 5 (QTEK 8310), and does not plug and play the USB driver, even with Active Sync 3.8 installed on the client. Since the Citrix document states you should upgrade the client to the latest Active Sync version to get the latest device driver for performance reasons, i did install Active Sync 4 on the client. When i do this the PDA is recognised, and the driver is installed locally as "Windows Mobile-based Device". This is not connected trough to the PS4 server. Im stuck on this one, can it be that Windows Mobile 5 needs Active Sync 4 to connect to the phone, and the Citrix Client dont recognise the device? Is there any other drivers out there i rather should use for this device? I have no trouble getting it to work locally on any desktops.
