There isn't a lot to tell. A small application is launched from our login script. It connects to an MSSQL database and obtains a list of NT print queues associated with the client machine name. For each one it launches con2prt.exe to make the connection before terminating quietly. At the admin end we have integrated support for the database into our helpdesk application so all we have to do is select the client machine name from the helpdesk and enter the HYPERLINK "file://\\\\server\\share"\\server\share name of the relevant print queue. We've been using it since the old NT4TSE days and it's served us well. -----Original Message----- From: Anthony Green [mailto:agreen@xxxxxxx] Sent: 22 September 2005 13:59 To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: Handle printing That sounds nice. All our servers run a little app that maps print queues at login, based on machine entries in an MSSQL database. The IT dept has a GUI utility to assign print queues to machines or users so adding a printer amounts to nothing more than making a database entry. It works well for us. -----Original Message----- From: Bill Beckett [mailto:bill.beckett@xxxxxxxxx] Sent: 22 September 2005 12:55 To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Handle printing How do those of you who use published apps exclusively (which would be like 95%) handle printing as it relates to user's needing to add a printer? -- No virus found in this incoming message.
