Yes technically you're right... There are 3 versions (not to mention the
numerous hot fixes for each)... v6.0 is just an exaggeration.  While v3 of
the UPD is completely new, it was not the best choice.  EMF redirection was
shown years ago that it's has issues.  Third party vendors abandoned this
approach in favor of a developing their own proprietary solution.  The
results are pretty conclusive.

It's kind of like Citrix choosing to CPatch for hotfixes instead of
something that proven to work.

actually your wrong.  By Citrix's versioning this is UPDv3.  Each
release was NOT a new version of UPD.  UPDv1 was like FR1.  UPDv2 was
FR3.  PS4 was UPDv3.  of course PS4 is a completely new print
infrastructure so in reality this version 1.  You cannot say that this
new UPD has any similarity to the previous version.
