Don't believe everything you read on forums! A lot of it is posted by sys
admins that don't have a clue.
Nothing has changed since that post. I still use the same mechanism with HP
UPD 5.2 and 2008 R2 (XenApp6).

Interesting to hear someone has had good luck with the HP UPD on XA.
We are still running XA5 on win2003, a few months back I started reading the
citrix forums and found more people having issues with the HP UPD than not.
Any tips or tricks for using it? I see you have a blog post from 2009 about
this, anything changed from then?

Hi Ronnie,
For the most part the HP UPD drivers work really well. If you are going to
rely on the HP UPD for client printer mappings, you'll need to map their
driver to the HP UPD, otherwise it will always fail back and use the Citrix
UPD.
For Example: These were the driver mappings from one of my recent projects:
hp designjet 800ps 42 PS3 > HP Universal Printing PS
HP DesignJet 755CM/PS > HP Universal Printing PS
HP LaserJet 4000 Series PCL6 > HP Universal Printing PCL 6
HP LaserJet 4100 Series PCL > HP Universal Printing PCL 5
HP LaserJet 5000 Series PCL6 > HP Universal Printing PCL 6

Hi,
Just going to ask this again as didn't get any responses. At this stage I
have tested the HP UPD and its looking like it's going to work with all our
printers apart from the A0 one for printing drawings.
I hope to use the HP UPD and for any remote users trying to use their own
printer use the Citrix UPD as fail back.
Should I be looking out for anything else ?

Hi,
I have to review our print server, as we are running lots of old drivers
which are not really compatible with the new W7 laptops and Vista Pc's.
Also every time we get a new printer type we have to go through the whole
process of changing the print server and then making sure all XenApp boxes
matches the print server.
We have been lucky enough as we don't really have many weird print issues,
but we do tend to keep to the same printer model were possible and always
from HP.
I am thinking of looking at using the new HP Universal Print driver only if
possible across the board. Has anyone gone down this route ?
We currently have 30 HP models and what I've been reading so far is that the
universal driver will work with nearly all of HP models.
Any advice or comments ?
