He never told me that. Or maybe I should listen closer :) Ok, so you
can do Joe's idea to leave licensing where it is, or the following to
put it on the DC. I couldn't find a doc to point you to, but I've done
this in the past.

Install TSLicensing service on DC
Activate License server - (don't add licenses)
Stop TSLicense service
Copy \winnt\systme32\LSERVER from current server to DC
Start TSLicensing on DC
Set TSLicensing to manual on old server
You should be ok.

Not really. Your buddy Ron has mentioned in the past that an 2000 TS
License server can reside on a member server when running AD (even in
native
mode). On the license server, simple set the License service to start
with
the -nodc switch and then on the TS Servers use the DefaultLicenseServer
key.

In a 2000 AD environment, TS Licensing does have to be on a DC.
DefaultLicenseServer only works for NT 4 domains. However, you do NOT
want your citrix server to be a domain controller - it's bad design.
So, your best bet is to move the Licensing service to your DC (or a new
one, if you want to build it). It doesn't take up much resources, so
your main DC is ok. It sounds like you have a smaller environment so it
shouldn't be a problem. I'm working on finding the directions to move
licensing - but wanted to make sure you didn't dcpromo - so I'm sending
this partial post.

Michael,

I'm pretty sure you can point your TS servers to a TS license serve
using
this reg key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\TermService\Parameters\
Defa
ultLicenseServer

DefaultLicenseServer is a string, and add the server name as the data.

Subject: [THIN] FW: DCPromo-ing a Win2K TS Licensing Server

I just upgraded my NT Domain to AD. I have a Win2K TS; this server had
been
a member server in my NT domain. After the AD upgrade, the TS Licensing
stopped working, saying it could not locate a license server.
Apparently,
the TS Licensing server must run on a DC, when you have an AD domain. So
apparently I need to either DCPromo my TS server, or transfer the TS
licensing service to a DC. Since I only have 1 DC (at the moment;
haven't
built another one yet), I figure it's easier to just DCPromo the TS
server.
I realize that will cause a reboot, and interrupt my guys; no
problem.=3D20

My question - will I need to do anything else to get the licensing to
work
again? I won't have to re-activate all my licenses all over again, will
I?

Any help appreciated.
