Hi Rick,

Thanks for the reply. I've managed to figure it out and it's exactly what
you suggested about the damaged key.

Cheers,

Jon......

Hi Jon,

The only history that the spooler has in terms of printer names is under the
printers key (HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print).

If there's a damaged key there things wouldn't work properly. Run regeit and
check. If there's a key there with the old printers name, delete it and
restart the spooler service.

Another possibility is that there's a share with the same name as the
printer share.

Regards,

Rick

Hi,

I posted this yesterday. I reckon it's something pretty simple, but I'm
still tearing my hair out.

Can anyone help?

Jon......

Subject: [THIN] Changing Printer Names

Hi,

I have 2 identical WinNT TS (SP 6) running MF 1.8 (FR 3).

During various office moves (New year - new start and all that!) several
printers have been given new homes. One annoying issue I've noticed is that
one TS will not let me rename (or install) printers with a printer name that
has been used previously, but the other one will.

I'm presume there is a simple setting to enable or disable somewhere but I
can't find it.

Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance.

Jon......
