You should be able to fix a corrupt log file by changing the log
settings, ie. changing the maximum log size, then resetting it.

Well if the event logs are truly corrupt, and you're happy this is the
fault, then to resolve it, you need to make the event log service
disabled, reboot, and rename the log files (.evt files?). If you rename
them, at least you've got a copy if this proves not to be the cause.

Then make the service automatic, again, and reboot (you may be able to
get away with simply starting the service, after making it automatic,
rather than needing to reboot - you'll have to cut me some slack, 'cos
it's been a while, and I've forgotten the minimalist procedure).

Just as an after thought, your logs aren't full, or doing anything odd
with overwriting, or low-speed connection thingmy, are they?
