Hi group,
I recently installed Citrix FR2 and then 2 weeks later MS SP3 on my XPa
farm. The problem is that now I can not install XExxxx64 patch from citrix
(and looks like any other *.msi packages as well). The server gives me a
fatal error (not the BSOD) and kicks me out of install. Event log says:
"Product: XE102W064-installation operation failed." I investigated it
further and here is what I found:
Right after reboot after MS SP3 installation (about 2 weeks ago from now) I
found Event ID 1014: "Windows Installer proxy information not correctly
registered". The error keeps repeating every now and then. I looked for this
error in EventID.net and the resolution there was to reinstall MsiInstaller
2 on top of MS SP3. I tried reinstalling the MsiInstaller using the package
included on Citrix FR2 CD. It went really quick and rebooted the server
without prompting me. Event Log says "Product: Windows Installer -
instalation was completed successsfully" and then "The Windows Installer
initiated a system restart to complete or continue configuration of Windows
Installer". After this I tried running the XE102W064 and got the ID 1014
"Product: XE102W064-installation operation failed."
Looks like the SP3 screwed my MS Installer because none of these errors
could be found in Event Log before the day and time I put MS SP3 on these
servers. The Installer service is up and running. All the servers report
Windows Installer V2.00.2600 when msiexecis is run from CMD.
Can anybody help me out with this one please? Looks like I'm not able to
install any *.msi packages now.
Any help is very appreciated
