These days we just purchase dual core regardless as they are so cheap.  We end 
up for four way boxes for the price of what an old two way box was a year ago.

Don't expect to double user numbers going from 2 to 4 cores where as 1 to 2 
cores you can almost expect this.

The big change will be when you use a 64 os.  It scales a lot better although a 
lot of that is down to memory not processor.

I am looking at replacing some hardware, and in the past I have gone with
dual processor 1u boxes from HP.  Now I see that they dual-cores seems to be
all they carry in their G5 line.

From an Intel processor standpoint, do you find that dual cores scale the
same as having 2 single core processors?
