I'm hoping that even suppliers in the UK don't have stock THAT old. -----Original Message----- From: Jay Moock [mailto:jmoock@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: 21 February 2005 16:39 To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: Do all JetDirect units support LPR? I once encountered a REALLY old internal JetDirect for a LaserJet 4 series printer that acually didn't support LPR. It had an slot to add memory, so I assume that you could add LPR functionality if you wanted to. Unfortunately I do not recall its P/N. If you're using JetDirects that have been manufactured in the last 8 years or so you should be OK. -----Original Message----- From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Angus Macdonald Sent: Monday, February 21, 2005 11:24 AM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: Do all JetDirect units support LPR? Many thanks. It looks as though at least one thing this month may actually go smoothly. -----Original Message----- From: John Hardwick [mailto:jhardwick@xxxxxxxx] Sent: 21 February 2005 16:15 To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: Do all JetDirect units support LPR? I've been using the 300x models which support LPR and I'm pretty sure the 170s do as well. There is documentation for them on HP's site that walks you through setting up a "Standard TCP/IP print port" (which is LPR). - John. I'm in the process of replacing a couple of hundred old PCs with HP T5300 terminals. Some of the PCs share printers for other users so I need some JetDirect units to support them. All the JetDirects I've used in the past have supported LPR printing but I can't find statements on the HP website to say whether current models do. Does anyone happen to know? I'm most interested in low-cost units like the 170x range.
