[THIN] Re: Delete Profile - Local vs. Domain Policy

Nick,

the mail I got from you shows "W2K=A3 GPO", I guess there is a formatting
problem as I often get some "=20"'s here and there. Anyway, were you
referring to the win2000 GPO or the win2003 GPO?

Thanks in advance, Brian

Ohh,ooh, ohh, a TS question I know an answer to instead of asking!

In the W2K=A3 GPO, User Configuration, Admini Templates, System, user =
Profiles, there is a setting to Exclude directories in roaming profiles. =
I presume that if you excluded all directories this would give the =
effect that Brian is looking for, and can give you some granularity if =
you don't actually want a blanket ban.

Alternatively, Under Computer Config, Adm Templates, System, user =
Profiles, you can force Only Allow local user profiles (As well as =
various other settings.=20

I'm not too sure about W2K3 server and the GPO overrides - but in =
general, there isn't a sweeping override for a machine to ignore profile =
paths (least not for the W2K servers I maintain).

In those cases, the only place the profile path is actually stored on =
the machine, is in the per-sid settings under:-

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\<SID>

But the DeleteRoamingCache thingmy seems to clear up this area.

As to W2K3 server, I don't have any that are terminal servers to play =
around with, so I'm not exactly sure what goes on there, although I =
realise the GPO options allow machines to override central settings for =
paths.

'sup with the crocodile, dude? ;-)
