Interesting ...when trying to google TSCUPGRD.EXE (or look in any other search
engine) that there are VERY few english pages that refer to this. Most of the
hits are from hijaakthis logs people have posted also not in english. I am
wondering if this was a non english "fix" that crept into an english hotfix
somehow. I can't find any reference to this file on the microsoft or citrix
site. The file is definitely a Microsoft file.
I don't know...it is considered a "Custom Action dll" whatever that means but
there is some interesting stuff on what those do on the MSDN site at:

I am very curious to see what the outcome of this is.

I do think it is related. What we are seeing is in relation to Pnagent
issues in that the TSCUPGRD.EXE process puts the system into install mode
and imposes one users settings on all future users. Perhaps the issues you
raised is the reason it does not go back into execute mode. We will look
into that...

Wonder if that's the same feature as with ctfmon on Windows Server 2003.
Winlogon expects any process it's initialized to die before it will close
the logon process, and change the session back into execute mode.
Ctfmon doesn't of course die, so that leaves the administrators session in
"install" mode.
Made for some really interesting times on a site where they had a bunch of
domain admins all using their admin accounts for normal use.
Got a hotfix from Microsoft, KB826821 that fixed the issue with ctfmon.

Hmmm, let me see....
Just in case anyone on any Microsoft OS in the future who happened to
have used Terminal Services clients at one time AND retained those
settings would automatically upgrade? Never mind the fact that the
process puts the sytems in change user /install mode !!
Remember the Monty Python skit about Mosquito hunting with a cannon???

Appears to delete old TSC/RDP client and migrate connection settings etc
to the existing version.

It's a mystery to me; it seems to be a custom setup file by Microsoft.
Perhaps it is used to properly set up the user's environment in a TS
session. The file shows to be from MS, but there is no info out there
on what it does.
