Daniel,

We implement DL380 G2s for most of our client requiring thin-client
solutions and have never had any problems with typing latency that could not
be tracked down.

For one or two of them who unusually high network usage we found that the
queue lengths on the on-board NICs could get over extended causing latency
but that was system wide latency any not just typing. I suppose if you were
sat right on the border line of such a level of traffic typing latency would
be the first place that it would be noticed. We cured the problem by
implementing Compaq Gigabit NICs in all the Metaframe servers, File and
Print server and the database server (which was also responsible for a
significant amount of the traffic) and plugging them all in to a Cisco 3508G
XL switch which was then formed a Gigabit server backbone and was connected
to the rest of the LAN.

It wasn't a cheap way of solving the problem however it was anticipated with
the client and a view was taken that we would "try it and see".

Hope this helps and if you want any more info drop me a note directly.

Regards,

Mike

I'm running DL380's, any word on these models because it's now been 7mo
and I', still troubleshooting typing latency issues.

Maybe, not sure. Could just be an older driver for the Lights Out
board. I
didn't update a driver for it because I'm not using it. I disabled the
board on the other servers, but missed it on this one.
