We added on the GUI an area where you can add any kind of registry key that
should be loaded for that user/group/machine/IP. It includes some
pre-determined templates (example, to add Logoff to the start menu) and you
can add your own templates.
WTSProfiles also allows you to use what we call a roaming server, basically
a single point where all these settings will be stored so all TSs running
WTSProfiles can retrieve this information from a central location (no need
to configure every single TS).
As I said I am not sure what else is needed. The two things I can think of
(that we are already working on) are custom start menus per
user/group/machine/IP and initialization files (.INI or similar files)
needed by certain applications to be in some directory (example, notes.ini
under %Homedrive%\Notes\Data).
What do you guys think?

Claudio,

The benefit of Flexprofiles is basically that they are mandatory profiles
using the office profile wizard to save and reload end user office settings
during login and logoff.

So, end users are able to customize their office settings in their session
to a point (typically this info is saved out to their home Dir on logoff),
and the profiles maintain a nice small mandatory profile footprint.

It sounds like your solution does quite a bit more that is typically dealt
with by login scripts / group policies. If you're really looking to make a
solution that is a flexprofile replacement . . All you need to do is include
the option of defining OPS settings. (arguably this could already be done
with your solution by running the OPS wizard from a login script).

Since you're already doing a lot with the end users login environment, you
may want to see if you can include an option for registry key changes for
end users on login as well.

I'm certainly interested in trying out what you've got so far, sounds cool.
Thanks much for sharing.

J

Hey Guys,

As some of you are aware we have been working on a new product called
WTSProfiles.
The thing is as I do not use FlexProfiles I have no idea on what exactly
administrators are looking for when they use FlexProfiles.
So now that we released WTSProfiles for testing, I would love to hear from
you what must be added to the final build to make it a true replacement for
FlexProfiles. Currently we can handle different settings based on:
- User/Group membership (local, AD, etc).
- Machine/IP the session is coming from.

The settings we currently handle are:
- Mapped drives.
- Mapped Printers.
- Lock down of the user interface.
- Adding custom desktop icons.
- Running login scripts.

And so on. All in an easy to use GUI.

What else do you want to have on the product?
You can download it for testing directly at:
http://www.terminal-services.net/downloads/WTSProfiles.exe

Note this is NOT the final version and there is no help included on it. If
you need assistance feel free to post directly in our forums
(http://forums.terminal-services.net) or to email/give me a call.

Thanks!
