[THIN] Re: Client won't connect

Thanks everyone for all your input. Apparently, when I migrated to AD, the
TS licensing server which resides in my MF box stopped because my MF box is
not a DC. I reinstalled the licensing server in a DC and called MS for
activation. After which, I have to hack the registry of the TS box so that
it knows the default Licensing server. My new machine is now up and
running.

Actually I had it working on a non DC when using the reghack and it works
the draw back is that you need to add the reg hack to every MF server (which
is not to bad)

Upgrading to AD will be your problem...in an AD domain the TS licensing
server must be on a Domain Controller so your TS license server on your
MetaFrame box will have stopped.

Install TS licensing on a DC, ring M$ and they will activate it and install
the CALS for you.

When I tried deleting the license key from a client that works, rebooted the
client and try again, I was not able to get a connection.
I deleted the license key on the client that works, rebooted and try
connecting but it did not connect.

I checked the TS Licensing Service and it is telling me that there is no TS
licensing server.
I am sure I did the licensing server back when I set the server up but I
only recently upgraded to Active Directory. Could this have caused the
problem? If so, how do I reset the TS Licensing server?

Thanks
Vince

Delete the license key on the client that works
(HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Mslicesneing/store/licesne000) then try to connect
and see if it still works.

The TS lic server reg hack is

HKLM/system/CurrentControlSet/services/termservice
DefaultLicenseServer

You need to add the above to the termservice key Type is Reg_SZ and the
value is the netbois name of your license server

I have other client that will connect no problem. Only this one particular
WS. And yes, I'm sure that TS license server was already setup since this
MF server has been running for over a year now.

By the way, what is the TS license server reghack?

Do you have a TS License server set up? If so you will need to add the TS
license server reghack

That should fix the issue for you

I have a new XP notebook that just will not connect to my Metaframe. It
tries to connect, then I get a "Network or dialup problems are preventing
communication with the Citrx server....", On the server side, I see an
Event 1D 1004, the terminal server cannot issue a client license.

I already cleared the mslicensing key of my client computer following
Q32988 but still the same result. Any thing else I need to do?

Thanks
Vince
