Wonder if anyone could possibly help me out with a Citrix install issue?

I am trying to put the evaluation version of XenDesktop 7.6 onto a Server
2012 R2 member server. I run the AutoSelect executable, select XenApp or
XenDesktop, but then when I click on Get Started | Delivery Controller, at
first the program was crashing with a .Net error.

Digging out the log from %LOCALAPPDATA%Temp\Citrix\XenDesktop
Installer\XenDesktop Installation.txt showed an error of

*11:07:44.7764 $ERR$ : AutoRun:Unable to record application type in the
registry, error Access to the registry key
'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Citrix' is denied.*

So I created the Registry key manually and gave Administrators Full Control
of the key. Now, instead of crashing, the installer looks like it is doing
something, but never completes.

Analyzing the log file again now shows this - there are a couple of errors
near the start which I can't fathom out, highlighted in *bold* below.
However, it does seem to continue after those and then come to a stop at a
later point

And that is as much as is ever written to the log.

Running Process Monitor and filtering by XenDesktopInstall.exe simply
reveals the following three entries, repeated constantly

*"Time of Day","Process Name","Operation","PID","Path","Result","Detail"*
*"12:08:23.2351971
PM","XenDesktopInstall.exe","CreateFile","532","C:\ProgramData\Citrix
AutoRun Waiting","SUCCESS","Desired Access: Read Attributes, Disposition:
Open, Options: Open Reparse Point, Attributes: n/a, ShareMode: Read, Write,
Delete, AllocationSize: n/a, OpenResult: Opened"*
*"12:08:23.2352648

AutoRun Waiting","SUCCESS","CreationTime: 3/17/2015 11:54:03 AM,

*"12:08:23.2352783

AutoRun Waiting","SUCCESS",""*

I can see that there is a 0KB file created in C:\ProgramData called "Citrix
AutoRun Waiting", but nothing happens to it. Permissions on this file seem
to be OK. If you delete the file, the installer exits.

I've tried all sorts of things (messing about with UAC, installing various
roles and features, running from the command line), but I can't seem to get
past this stage. The XenDesktop install is good - I've downloaded it twice
and it installs without any issue on the systems in my lab.

Anyone have any thoughts? Kind of stumped here.

TIA,
