Hi,

There are 2 ways to do this, depending on the number of clients. The first,
preferable way is via login scripting or policies. Note that the login
scripting can be as simple as using reg files in usrlogon.cmd.

The second way, if you only have a small number of clients and you like
doing things the hard way is to individually load each users profile and
modify it manually using regedt32. That's actually pretty easy but you'd
hsve to be desperate.

Rick

Subject: [THIN] Changing user prefs without logging in as user?

1) How can I, as the Administrator, go into a clients account without the
need to alter their original password?

All clients have a default password upon login, then they are forced to
change individual passwords frequently, so the Admin never knows the
client's password.

I have a number preferences that I need to set (FileMaker, Default Printer,
etc.) that would require me to enter the account as the user. The current
method for doing this is to change the client's password to the default,
login, make the changes, then notify the client that the must use the
default password to log in again.... There must be a better way!!

2) Is it possible to edit preferences without the need to enter the client's
account in the first place? For instance, where would I find the text
preference that describes the client's default printer?

Thanks

Jon
