Hi, I do not have the "Delete Locally Cached Profiles" set. I have some scripts that I wrote perform this task on a periodic basis. =20 As far as the ProfileList key, I do have that set to d:\documents and settings. This functionality is working. New users get created in d:\documents and settings. Unfortunately when an app looks to change c:\winnt\file.ini, the OS is still looking in c:\documents and settings and not d:\documents and settings. I think this is related to the HOMEDRIVE variable, but I am not positive. Unfortunately I can not get it to change to even test it. Thanks, Dan -----Original Message----- From: Chris Lynch [mailto:lynch00@xxxxxxx]=20 Sent: Thursday, February 06, 2003 4:07 PM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: Can't change HOMEDRIVE variable There are a few registry entries you would need to modify. BTW, do you =3D have DELETE LOCALLY CACHED PROFILES set? I would check HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows =3D NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList. There is a value called ProfilesDirectory. This would need to be =3D changed. I cannot remember what the other reg value you would need to change, but =3D I will get = that for you. On my servers I have a C and D drive. I want to install = all of =3D my applications on to C and have my profiles on D. I edited the ProfilesDirectory registry key so that it would point to d:\documents = =3D and settings. I copied the Default User and All Users profiles there and =3D setup all of the necessary ACL's. The new profiles work fine. = If I login, =3D new users get created on the D drive. =3D20 I made this change right after I built the server. Now I am beginning = =3D to install applications and I am having a problem. On one particular application, it has a ini file that is located in c:\winnt. Installing =3D the application in Install mode gives me the behavior I need, but = not as expected. When I run the application it fails, because it can't find =3D the ini file. If I run FileMon from sysinternals I see what the problem is. The application is trying to make a change to the file and the OS is redirecting to c:\documents and settings\username\windows\file.ini NOT D:\documents and settings\username\windows\file.ini. Since I have changed the profile location, the call is failing. I think that the problem is that the HOMEDRIVE variable is still set to =3D C:. Unfortunately I am not having any luck changing it to D:. I = tried =3D modifying usrlogn.cmd without any luck. I also add HOMEDRIVE as a system variable =3D and that did not work. Can anyone help? Am I = correct that the reason the =3D OS is telling the app to look in c:\documents = and set... is because of the HOMEDRIVE variable?
