Hi Matthew, I wish I could say that the PS4 UPD has all bases covered, but while it's almost okay, there are still some issues, particularly if you're supporting network printers and local printer drivers. Pure UPD would probably be solid, but the Citrix print manager still has issues (ie it hangs) with some HP printer drivers and port monitors. If you can possibly use the HPuniversal drivers for PCL and PS for your HP fleet then PS4 is starting to look good. Some applications (SAPLPD etc) do print rasterising on their own so they need to be able to do a RAW print and you'll need to do some tweaking. Overall, the stability of the PS4 UPD will depend a lot on your printing environment. regards, Rick Ulrich Mack Volante Systems ________________________________ From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx on behalf of Matthew McComas Sent: Tue 24/10/2006 0:14 To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] CPS4 - UPD?? So, for those of us who have a Citrix Presentation 4.0 implementation, what kind of success have you had with the Universal Print Driver? Is it as large an improvement over the XP version as everything I've read indicates? Do you find any reason to continue to use a third-party printing product or install additional drivers in the farm? If so, why? I'm designing our new farm's server image and always prefer to go w/ just the UPD if at all possible as opposed to installing a printer driver for everyone and his/her dog.
