[THIN] COM+ and drive remapping

I am trying to install an application which errors out with the error as
listed in: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=263900 The only problem
with the KB article is that it refers to MF 1.8, not XP. Are the two
versions of MF close enough to each other that the solution is the same?
I'm looking at CTX457309 for the steps to fix it. In particular, step 3.
To answer a few questions, I am running XPe FR3 on W2K SP3 and my drives
are remapped to M and N.
