Jeremy

I also share your confusion, and am in a worse boat than you, if the wizard
that citrix sent is correct then I have 5 exams and an online course to
complete b4 may 1st. that means that i have to find over £500 pounds in just
over 2 months, revise for and pass the exams, all this and still do my day job.

Subject: [THIN] CCEA Update Confusion

Content-Type: text/plain
Hi Everyone,

I am very confused about exactly what I need to achieve before the 1st of
May to maintain the currency of my CCEA and was wondering if anyone else was
just as confused.

Back on the 19th December 2003 I received an e-mail from Citrix Education (
<mailto:citrixeductaion@xxxxxxxxxxx> citrixeductaion@xxxxxxxxxxx) which
stated the following...

"CCEA certification holders: Exams 940 and 941 are being retired from the
CCEA certification track on May 1, 2004. CCEA holders who passed either exam
940 or 941, must update their CCEA certification prior to May 1, 2004, in
order to maintain their status as a Citrix Certified Enterprise
Administrator (CCEA)."

So from this I concluded that since I used 941 to gain my CCEA, I simply
needed to complete one of the non-retiring, or newer exams under the CCEA
track. I had actually chosen to do 991, and have been studying towards it.

A few days ago I used the on-line Certification Wizard to generate a report
on what I needed to achieve, as a colleague pointed out that it may not be
that simple.

I selected that I'd passed exams 220, 911, 921, 941 and 951.

It came back with the following results...

You need to complete the following steps in order to attain CCEA status
beginning May 1, 2004:

* Pass Exam 962. It is recommended that you take CTX-1227AI Citrix
MetaFrame XP: Securing and Deploying Applications over the Web to prepare
for the exam.
* Pass Exam 992. It is recommended that you take CTX-1235AB Citrix
MetaFrame XP Presentation Server: Deployment and Support to prepare for the
exam.
* Pass CTX-1300AW, and pass Exam 721. It is recommended that you take
CTX-1301AI Citrix MetaFrame Secure Access Manager: Administration to prepare
for the exam.
     or
Pass CTX-1320AW, and pass Exam 972. It is recommended that you take
CTX-1321AI Citrix MetaFrame Password Manager: Administration to prepare for
the exam, and pass CTX-1320AW.

So does this mean that I need to pass at least 3 exams plus complete an
e-Learning course?

I have taken "attain" to also mean "maintain" as the explanation for the
Certification Wizard states that "You may also use the Certification Wizard
to determine which additional exams and eLearning courses you may need to
pass in order to retain your status."

So has it calculated my requirements incorrectly?

Will completing exam 991 be enough?

I have e-mailed the people at training@xxxxxxxxxx
<mailto:training@xxxxxxxxxx> , so hope to get an answer from them.

Kind regards,

Jeremy Saunders
