BTW, do you ever sleep? Anyone know if Ron made it all the way thru the
show without sleep, or did he crash & burn?

We have just done the process and are buying 40 1655m 's and a few 1650's
and 2650s

The 1650 and 2650s are only being used due the need for a HBA for access to
san disk

I think that blades made the boxes around $1-2000 cheaper (aus)

But the real beauty is in the cable management screen keyboard mouse etc etc

If anyone has spent the time to figure that out, I'd like to see myself.

I am very curious as to how these blade servers stack up from a cost per
concurrent user perspective. We see traditional DL360 dual CPU servers
supporting from 20 to 60 concurrent users (it varies widely due to the
applications mix). Has anyone taken a set of demanding production
applications an figured out how many concurrent users they can get on a
blade? What is the fully burdened cost of the blade compared to a 1U or 2U
server?=3D20

By far the most advanced solution which is relevant to Citrix installations
are the products by RLX technologies. The managment software includes the
ability to build and provision servers with point and click. The
provisioning has an internal database of server images for LINUX and WINDOWS
that can be a starting point, then you can build any number of images you
like. RLX is very conservative in announcing new products and avoids
vaporware, but I can tell that in Q1 they will not only have the most
advanced managment capability, but also the highest performance available.
The other brands are a decent start, but RLX will is at their 4th generation
product now.

We are re-architecting our TS environment and are looking at consolidating
TS servers to blades. I was wondering if any of you have gone this route.

I'm interested in which blade you went with, how many blades you're using,
how many apps and approximately how many users you are serving. And best of
all, do you think it was a good decision to consolidate apps to the blade
server?

Thanks!
