There are some tools I think in the resource kit : dumpevt.exe CLEAREL.EXE
(not in the resourcekit but I think this is freeware) to backup and clear
the eventlogs. You can call these tools from a kix script.

Mail me off list if you need them...

Off hand, does anyone know of a tool or script that can be run as a
scheduled task or service to backup to a designated folder or share and then
clear specific windows event logs?

For example, if I want to backup DC1's Application log to (\\DC1\D$)
D:\Logs\Application\DC1-2005-05-10.evt and then clear it, does anyone have
an example of a script that would do that? Or if I wanted to back up DC2's
Security log to \\DC1\D$\Logs\Security\DC2-2005-05-10.evt but not clear
it... etc.

Thanks
