alot of servers (600 or so) and uncountable amount of workstations, laptops,
handhelds stuff...

i earn about 30 K a year @ the most .... but i pay tax on that... so about
18.000 $ net. a year that is..

Understand, that you are worth whatever they pay you and you stay for.
There is no reason for them to pay you more, if you are willing to work at
what you are getting now. I hate the "I am worth x amount" comments, if so,
go get it. At the current time, you are worth whatever they are paying you.
Go out and find a salary calculator and put some numbers together for your
management team. Run the number by them and see what they have to say.

That being said, 50 workstations and 7 servers is not a very big enterprise.
True, it is Linux, but even so.

Just my $.02.

Just thought I'd add something I JUST found....
According to www.computerjobs.com and their Salary ticker the average
salary nationwide is 60+K a year for Linux administrators....the highest
being $140K per annum..... That doesn't even include the workload or the
number of servers/users.....

Woohoo! You can bet that's going into my report....

Here's a stupid question for all you folks out there...
What would you think a single employee managing around 50 workstations
(Various flavors of Windows) and 7 Linux Servers across a WAN of 7
offices in the St Louis area, should make?

I won't make my life more depressing by actually writing down in black
and white what I get paid, but I'm getting ready to write a report prior
to my raise review and I'd like to have some ammunition. Links to
articles and just general web information on average Linux/Windows
system administrator salary would be appreciated as well as your
anecdotal information.

Cheers,
Sherwood (Rushowr)
