[THIN] App install 2x click vs add-remove vs change user /install

Hi Gang,
These days do we still need to properly install apps via Add/Remove or
change user /install ? Even something as trivial as Winzip or an FTP Client
? Or can we just 2x click on the install, and if it doesn't complain then
we're golden?
We're running a mix bag of Win2K / Win2K3 and XPe
