Thanks for the response, Rob...I think I misspoke on the whole farm thing...we are running NT4 SP6 with MetaFrame XP 1.0, SP1/FR1 Also, here's a sample line from our KIX file that fails: shell "%comspec% /c regedit /s \\filesrv\share\WordXP\templates.reg" The really weird part about the cmd.exe failing is that if this line is moved to the top of the file, it executes perfectly. For some reason, it appears that KIX has a limit as to how many external programs it can run from a single script...but only through the RDP session! From the console, everything works as expected... Very weird...I'm hoping this is just some RDP problem and that it goes away when we switch to ICA...it just makes testing difficult... Again, thanks for the help... -Dave Melczer -----Original Message----- From: Rob Beekmans [mailto:R.Beekmans@xxxxxxxxx] Sent: Wednesday, June 04, 2003 9:35 AM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: Another pair of Win2k questions... Dave, As for question one, I would create a whole new farm, and leave the MB to be done last otherwise you ain't got no farm anymore. I wouldn't upgrade anything from NT4 MF1.0 -> w2k MF XP, to many errors to be encountered without being able to see them beforehand. And for question two, Haven't seen it much, depends mostly on your login script I guess....can you post a bit of it on the list, the bit that fails.... Okay, after a ton of debate about the XP/Win2k profile incompatibilities, we've decided to go with split profiles (ie, separate terminal server profiles) and just copy the requisite registry keys as part of a logon/logoff script pair. Now, here are another two questions I hope the gurus have run into: I plan to put Citrix MetaFrame SP2/FR2 on this machine in the very near future, but it is not on yet... Question #1: If I decide to upgrade my existing farm (everything currently NT4 SP6, MF 1.0 FR1) I assume I'll need to upgrade the data collector first...is this correct? Question #2: When logging at console, our domain login script runs flawlessly. When logging in through RDP (I'm just testing logins...I plan to shut down RDP after Citrix is installed) I get "CMD.EXE application failed to initialize" errors as our login batch script calls other batch scripts...I have made certain that permissions are open on CMD.EXE, %SYSTEMROOT%, AND %SYSTEMROOT%\SYSTEM32...has anyone seen this, and what could be the cause? Again, thanks in advance...I'd be dead in the water without this list! -Dave Melczer dmelczer@xxxxxxxx ********************************************************************** Please be advised that this transmittal may be a confidential attorney-client communication or may otherwise be privileged or confidential.
