Hi all,

I have followed
http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=328233 and installed
in change user /install mode.

I've made sure it is suitably locked down to prevent users updating the app and
generally doing things they shouldn't.

I guess I'll just have to manually reinstall everytime it "breaks".

Weird.

We have had just about every version of acrobat reader working for years
without issue. You need to make sure that you install it as an admin in change
user /install mode. Then after install start the program and turn off
automatic updates, splash screen AND also make sure you find and make sure the
box is checked to open the documents in the web browser. Exit out of Adobe and
then do a change user /execute from the command prompt. My guess is adobe is
getting updated on the server by a user and the settings are not carrying over
at logoff and it is getting broken.

Hi Everyone,

We've got a reoccurring problem viewing PDFs in IE6 .....

Server farm is Windows 2003, PS4, IE6, Acrobat Reader 8.

When you click on a PDF link in IE6 the plug in does not activate and the user
just gets a red X.

This happens for all users, including administrators logged on directly to the
console.

When Acrobat Reader is uninstalled and reinstalled, everything works fine for
hours / weeks / days (including after reboots etc), until for no apparent
reason it "breaks" again for everyone.

I've searched around and have found cases of others with the same problem, but
all the suggestions just seem to be 'uninstall all previous versions of acrobat
reader and reinstall the latest one', which I have done.

Has anyone found a permanent solution?

Cheers.
