Yes Andrew it is. Once you click on 'don't use farm settings' it does just that - it doesn't apply farm settings *including* the exclusion list. So if you want to do testing you must a) Set the farm's memory optimization to be 'disabled' b) Set your server to not to use the farm's memory optimization (therefore run optimization on the server only) c) Test d) If you have an exclusion list - put the values into the exclusions list e) Set your server to 'use farm settings' - this updates the local registry f) Set your server to not to use the farm's memory optimization (therefore run optimization on the server only) *again* g) Retest Repeat ad lib till fade From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Andrew Wood Sent: 10 February 2008 23:09 To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] 4.5 Memory Optimisation When you configure 'exclusion lists' in 4.5 you do it at the farm level. You can configure servers to take the farm settings for memory optimisation, or operate independently. Typically, you might configure the farm to *not* have memory optimization enabled, and enable a single server in order to test applications. So, if you do this - does the farm exclusion list apply to the server? And, does the exclusion list (as defined at the farm level) get written to the exclusion list registry settings I ask because if I put the application name into the exclusion list it doesn't appear to work correctly - and the list of .dlls doesn't work either :? However, if I put the values straight into the registry (like in the olden days) on the server with memory optimization enabled, everything works dandy. Is this an undocumented feature?
