Hi

Sounds promising.. Will the existing Web Interface Server/Presentation servers
be affected if I build a new WI server with the latest WI version? Therefore
multiple WI servers (with different versions) in the 1 Citrix Farm. Obviously
the WI and PNAgent addresses will be different from the Production ones. Im
assuming its a simple DNS change to then allow the Production users to use the
new Web Interfaces or is there more to it?

Thanks
Ang

Angela,

Not sure on the doco, you could try the Admin Guides?? But heres some further
ideas. . .

We run 1 Web Interface and 2 Citrix Farms, (a migration project still underway
.. sigh) the user sees all applications from both farms for which that user has
access to (ie if user has MS Access published to his user name from both farms
the user will see the MSAccess icon twice)

You can configure "Zone preference and failover" as a policy for the citrix
server sites so users that connect from IP Range X (canada) always connect
canada servers firstly (and if it all goes pear shaped you can even configure a
backup site so users connect to another site as a secondary) and then vice
versa..

Not so sure on the WI speeds, but have avoided using V5 because its such a
"cosmetic" change for the end users. and they will mostly get confused if the
page changes from Red to Green. . =)

We are running Wi 4.5.1.

Hope this helps a little :-)

James

Hi

Where can I find good documentation on setting this up? How does WI know what
farm a user belongs to? If I have a CTX Farm in US and another in Canada. A US
User logs in, how does he get directed to the US Farm? Is it based on IP, AD
group? Are there different links on the WI page?

Also in relation to Citrix WI versions, is it always best to go with the latest
and greatest? I recall reading that WI 4.6 is faster than V5? My farm is
version 4 so I need to ensure the version works with this old version.

Sorry for the silly question but Ive never done this before.

Angela

You can include multiple farms in a single web interface. In the settings
within WI just specify more than one farm and define one or more servers within
the farm for app enumeration.

In a distributed environment you gave to look at AD and WAN communications but
WI is not a limiting factor, in fact, it is deosgned to aggragate mutilple
farms.

Hi

I think you need to create new web sites for each farm in Single Citrix web
interface servers and make sure that communication between the servers should
happen to each farm.

U should have a 2 web interface for load balancing and fault tollance purpose.

Hi

We have multiple Citrix 4.0 farms in separate offices around the world. Each
office has its own WI Server. I want to consolidate and use 1 WI Server in
Head Office only. Can 1 WI Server be configured so users connect to different
farms in their own country? I cant find any info on configuring WI Servers
this way. The Links between sites are 2Mb Frame Relay. Web Interface version
being used is V4.2.

Will it work reliably?

Thanks
Ang
