The Gate is Open
Regarding the special spiritual opportunity that comes at the Kotel
when a Jew puts on tefillin: *Rosalind* asked;
Beautiful. Now what about women going to the Kotel. What *mitzvah* can they
have at this special place?
* Gutman’s* response: Right there at the Kotel a woman can give charity
to one of the poor ladies, or in the Kotel collection box and that will
give her a “time of favor” to stand by the Kotel and ask Hashem for all the
things she has in her heart.
The most usual time that the Upper Gate is open for Jewish women and
girls is when they light their Shabbos candles. After making the blessing,
with their eyes still closed, they should pray for all of the things in
their heart. This time is especially fitting for women to pray for their
family, and for single women to pray for their intended groom, that he
should have a good Shabbos, and come to her as soon as they are ready.
Lighting Shabbos candles brings both spiritual and physical light to
the home. Nothing brings more light to a home than a *chatan* (groom) and a
*kallah* (bride). May Hashem bring all of the appropriate couples together
very soon.
