Me and My Big Mouth

     I have what may be an unusual custom. When I walk down the street, I
sometimes comment on the kids I see. I do it softly, but I guess I may
blurt it out a little louder than I think. Seeing toddlers or kids a few
years old I might say, “You’re gorgeous! Hashem, how did you do that? How
did you make these kids so beautiful?”

     Just now, on my way back from the market here in the Rova, there were
a bunch of maybe eleven-year-old girls hurrying by heading for the Kotel.
They were totally secular… at least their dress was… shorts and such. When
a couple of them walked past me I looked at them and blurted, “You’re good!”

     One of the girls turned around, smiled a huge smile at me, and happily
waived her hand. I guess she understood English, and I guess I was speaking
louder than I thought.

     Me and my big mouth!
