Howdy All! This morning was very interesting. I went down to the lakeview trail footbridge to check the beaver pond for spring migrants. I was greeted immediately by a beautiful Texas Coral Snake, a huge Bullfrog, and 4 Broad- banded watersnakes. The birds weren't very active in that area, just White- eyed Vireos and Vultures. The area by the Southside Day-use turn off (fire break) had very active Brown-headed Nuthatches, some left over White-throated Sparrows, and an American Kestrel guarding the neighbor's field. The Indigo Buntings, Red-eyed Vireos, Louisiana Waterthrush have all arrived. In the area below the Big Pine camping loop there was also a singing Hooded Warbler. It's looking like migration is starting to pickup at the park. This Saturday, April 14th, we will have a bird tour around the park to look for more incoming migrants. Join us at the park HQ at 8am and we'll go birding. eBird below.
