Pied-billed Grebes can produce a big sound, and one was putting on quite a
show this morning near the Kiskadee Deck, where we also had decent views of
an Altamira Oriole nest in a willow across the resaca.  Best views are when
the breeze blows.  We headed to Quail Loop for a look at a White-tailed
Kite.  One Swainson's Hawk also put in a brief appearance.  Plenty of
nesting behavior going on in the park but not much migration-wise.  Early
arrivals for the walk were treated to close-up views of a bobcat near the
feeding station.

DIRECTIONS:  The main entrance to Resaca de la Palma State Park is located
on New Carmen Blvd. From Expressway 77/83, exit at Olmito, take FM 1732,
follow for 2.5 miles; turn left at New Carmen Road; follow for 1.5 miles;
shortly after the gravel hump in the road, turn left to enter the park.
