The City of Sunset Valley has mowed much of their Bastard Cabbage weed so
finding the birds is a little easier. Still there is a lot of growth obscuring
the view. Down in the deep grass south of the berm this morning was a male
painted bunting. I thought I caught a glimpse of blue so might have been an
indigo there also. Heard a Yellow-breasted chat. They were mowing again this
morning so I didn’t walk far. Also saw:
Black-bellied whistling ducks (flyover)
Mourning dove
White-winged dove
Black-chinned hummingbird
Scissor-tailed flycatcher
White-eyed vireo
Purple martin
Swallow (sp)
Carolina chickadee
Blue-gray gnatcatcher
Mockingbird
Starling
Yellow-rumped warbler
Yellow-breasted chat (HO)
Savannah sparrow
Lincoln sparrow
Cardinal
Painted bunting
Great-tailed grackles
House finch
Lesser Goldfinch
American Goldfinch
