Hi all!
Got down to Zacate Creek at around 8:15 yesterday from the Austin area. No
such luck on the Kingfisher, however we did have amazing looks at
White-collared Seedeater. Around 3 pm we hit Dos Laredos Park, where we only
had 2 Greens for kingfishers. We then camped the mouth of Zacate Creek, in
hopes that the Amazon came into the creek to roost for the night, although
that proved to be unsuccessful as well. Our fear is that he headed out when
the cold front came through.
We're currently heading down to Santa Ana and the rest of the Valley, but we
are open to coming back on Friday if it's seen again. If anyone sees it,
please keep me posted!

This morning I followed up on the Grace's Warbler being seen in the green
space in Clear Lake City. I refound it near the same pond where it was
reported on Saturday. Park at the parking area that is near the intersection
of Reseda and Diana Lane. Walk across Reseda and into the green space called
Exploration Green, about five minutes down you'll find the ponds. It's
working the Pine trees in that area.

The last Bear Creek bird walk of 2016 will be tomorrow, December 22 from
8:30-10 AM. We will meet at the intersection of Golbow Dr. and Koch Ln.
Purple Finch has been reported in the park as recently as yesterday, so that,
along with the Greater Pewee, will be our primary target species.
We hope to see you there!

Subject: [texbirds] Anzalduas/Bentsen CBC Pontoon Boat trip
The Anzalduas/Bentsen CBC has revived the pontoon boat trip to count birds on
the river. If there are sufficient registrants, we will depart the Riverside
Club in Mission at 730 AM and cruise the Rio Grande from Anzalduas dam to
Bentsen RGV State Park and beyond on the roomy Riverside Dreamer. More
information is online at https://www.facebook.com/events/1512106352151072/. ;
I'm looking forward to it! Hope we get enough participants to GO!

Twin Lakes (YMCA) Cedar Park...one vocal Rock Wren, Devine Lk. Did not try
as I ran into Randy Duncan and friend who said tons of waterfowl but too
far out. Lakewood Park, Leander (undeveloped) 1male (w/possible female
maybe 2) Greater Scaup)..Golden-fronted woodpecker continues.....Lots of
good stuff sandwiched in the little band between the Georgetown and
Balcones Canyonlands CBC circles..Their loss given the water resources
here..
