Hi, all!
Yesterday Team Birder Patrol embarked on an unofficial Birdathon to help
raise funds for Frontera Audubon: we started pre-dawn in Harlingen and
picked up the Canada Goose, then headed to Sabal Palm where the
included Cerulean Warblers and a Yellow-throated Vireo! OPIR was next forPlover)
the Aplomado Falcon and others, then the Hwy 48 Boat Ramp (Wilson's
and SPI, with highlights there being Black-billed Cuckoo, Wood Thrush, and
Blue Grosbeak! (We also had what was probably a very dark SavannahSparrow,
but comments welcome!) Hit pay dirt again at Weaver Road with all theshow
expected grasspipers (including Buff-breasted Sandpiper) and an added
of almost 20 juvenile Swainson's Hawks sitting in the fields! After aquick
check of the Ebony Resacas we hit Oliviera Park for the parrot show andmy
logged all the expected species except for Lilac-crowned. The "official"
tally was 144, but total species logged was 146! A few pictures are on

From: peter barnes <pbarnes123@xxxxxxxxx>shorebirds,
I spent 2+ hours this morning in the north unit of Richland Creek WMA.
Water levels are low in most cells, with extensive mudflats for
which were scattered throughout the area. I had 75+ American GoldenBald
Plovers, 7 Black-necked Stilts, 15 Baird's Sandpipers, 40+ silent
Dowitchers, presumably Long-billed, 3 Dunlin, 2 Upland Sandpipers and 1
lingering Wilson's Snipe. There was also 1 American Bittern, 4 Tricolored
Herons, 8 White-faced Ibis, 20 Black-crowned Night Herons, 4 Soras, 1
Eagle, 1 Peregrine Falcon and 2 Crested Caracaras. Hundreds of Northerncontinue at Frontera Audubon in Weslaco along with some swell migrants.
Shovelers, Blue-winged and Green-winged Teal were around, as well as 2
Northern Pintails and 3 Redheads. I did not see the 5 Hudsonian Godwits
that Ed Wetzel found here on Friday.
