Jeff et al - I have been told that eBird can set up a closed database where you can input your sightings but others without authorization cannot access them. Have the city check with Cornell. I and others on this list, and many not on this list, volunteer time to do field surveys for the City of Austin to help the City's professional biologist try to monitor Golden-cheeked Warblers on restricted access City property. The city biologists have requested that we stopped entering notes into ebird because some birders are disregarding the restricted access, which is in place to protect the birds - an endangered species - and chasing the birds for their lists. Of course, I and others are now going back and either deleting notes, or altering them in ways to mask the precise locations. So whoever thinks your list is more important than the long term concerns for the birds, there is no need to chase Golden-cheek Warblers off my ebird notes unless you enjoy starlings and house sparrows. Because this listserv is read by many, I'll keep my thoughts to myself about what I wish for your fate, other than I hope you find only grackles for the rest of your life. and fwiw - trespassing/poaching on property specifically set aside and restricted to protect a federally endangered species is going to cost you way more than a parking ticket if you are caught.
