I am not sure at all what this bird is but it Could be a Brimstone Canary
from South Africa. A major on=line supplier had them listed recently but
are currently out of stock. Can you tell me if there is a Buddhist
monastery in the vicinity of where this bird was seen? Perhaps it is a
recent release.

I saw this bird on August 5 on a hike outside of Austin, TX. While I
think it might be a yellow grosbeak, I also know that they are not known
to
come that far north. On the other forum I posted to, they recommended I
try a listserv. So I thought I might ask... I've included a link to the
"original" photo as well as the "lightened" (not saturated) version as
the
pic was very backlit (unfortunately).
