hi there, radar last night showed some birds arriving, but for the most part, seemed rather quiet, but to my surprise, this morning at Hermann Park - Bayou Parkland (accessed via Almeda parking lot), the migrant show continued. Lots of birds were still hanging around, but there was clearly some turnover. At dawn, on the extreme northeast edge of the woodlot, where the sun first hits, small groups of warblers (mostly Tennessee's), orioles, and kingbirds were streaming by, stopping only briefly in the tree tops. In the north wood lot, picnic area, and south wood lot (south of the parking area), warblers were everywhere. Hard to focus. Ovenbirds, waterthrushes, redstart, yellowthroats, magnolias, chestnut-sideds, tennessees, blackburnians, black-and-whites, yellow, black-throated greens, and canadas were all in full song. The first year female Audubon's Warbler is still present, having now spent three days here. There were also 3 female or subadult male Golden-winged Warblers. Notably, there were zero tanagers and dickcissels today. migrants today included: Eastern Wood-Pewee 15 Willow Flycatcher 1 Least Flycatcher 1 Eastern Kingbird 3 Loggerhead Shrike 1 Warbling Vireo 3 Philadelphia Vireo 5 Red-eyed Vireo 5 Gray-cheeked Thrush 1 Swainson's Thrush 3 Gray Catbird 8 Cedar Waxwing 120 Ovenbird 3 Northern Waterthrush 1 Golden-winged Warbler 3 Black-and-white Warbler 14 Tennessee Warbler 50 Mourning Warbler 1 Common Yellowthroat 10 American Redstart 45 Northern Parula 1 Magnolia Warbler 35 Bay-breasted Warbler 3 Blackburnian Warbler 5 Yellow Warbler 10 Chestnut-sided Warbler 20 Yellow-rumped Warbler (Audubon's) 1 continuing bird from 2 days ago!
