Greetings,
Since the topic has surfaced, there has been a leucistic Northern
Mockingbird at the 26 Doors Shopping Center (1206 West 38th in Austin where
we have had our toy store for 40 years) since last fall - a strikingly
pretty bird. It was observed gathering nesting material on Friday by Diane
Sherrill. It can most commonly be seen in the central courtyard next to the
Hairs Lair.
Best Regards,
Paul and Georgean Kyle

Subject: [texbirds] leucism
I don't recall reports of leucistic doves (Mourning). I'm thinking that
means they are really common and not worth reporting or pretty rare. I know
I haven't seen one until today. Thinking about this further, I'm making
an uninformed distinction between (bred for) white doves (weddings and
magicians) and a Mourning Dove that is short on pigment. Can anyone fill me
in?
