Friday morning hiked up road canyon to the ridge, then over along the trail connecting to bridge gap road and the down bridge gap and madera canyon to my truck. birdy for july...did locate one long eared owl near the ridge along road canyon, right before the heavy burn strip, one group of montezuma quail along ridge near summit point, and highlight of the trip, 2 buff-breasted flycatcher along the ridge trail a hundred yards or so before bridge gap (chasing each other)... did not see or hear any stellars jays, surprised me. Other birds, chipping sparrow, western wood pewee, ash-throated flycatcher, western scrubjay, western bluebird, spotted towhee, house wren, gray flycatcher, black-headed grosbeak, hepatic tanager, blue grosbeak, white-throated swift, black chinned and broad tailed hummingbird, graces warbler, varied bunting, black crested titmouse, mountain chickadee, white breasted nuthatch, lark sparrow, plumbeous vireo, scotts oriole, turkey vulture, raven, peregrine falcon, unidentifid juve sparrow, bushtit, red tailed hawk, and a surprise ruby-crowned kinglet among the bushtits...did not list vocals sending this from rest stop between Balmorhea and ft stockton, two yellow headed blackbirds here on the grass...
